A user interface element consisting of a horizontal or vertical strip of buttons, menus, etc. For our purposes, a toolbar generally refers to an add-on product that adds functionality to a web browser such as Firefox.
Two popular toolbars are the Google Toolbar and the SEObook.com Toolbar.
In addition to legitimate toolbars, there are a number of adware and malware toolbars that unsuspecting users may be tricked into installing. These toolbars range from those that are merely obtrusive and obnoxious to those that can actually hijack your browser, access your personal information and worse.
